Wisdom feels elusive right now, which means I’m not listening very well, or the world has gone a little dark. I’m trying something new, inspired by a postcard collection of the alphabet I bought in the West Village a couple of years ago. I hope the art and words inspire you. Please share your wisdom below. We all need it.

Grow flowers for beauty. House plants for clean air. Grow vegetables to eat.
Grow to observe a shoot breaking through the ground, the stem becoming thick, the sudden tight bud, the opening bloom. Grow to notice the edge of its drying petal, the withering of its stalk. The collapse. The rot.
Grow to witness disease and feasting animals. A decapitating whipper snipper. Strangling weeds. Neglect.
Grow to give the bounty away when harvest boons. Grow to receive when nothing flourishes, no matter the effort.
Grow because nature knows us.

I’m growing herbs, one big tomato plant, strawberries, a potted lemon, lime and kumquat tree (my fav, try in a salad).
What are you growing?
Also, what wisdom can you share that begins with the letter G?
Until next week,
Sylvia xo

I seem to be in the withering, collapse and rot stage of growth! 😂 Here’s hoping something (someone) refreshed and beautiful and new grows from the death of the previous spring bloom. ❤️
